HBRA hosted a team building day on August 17 for members of a girls’ soccer team (The Mustangs) from Hidden Valley High School in Grants Pass.
The team’s coach requested that HBRA host the team as part of a pre-season team camp that included camping with their coaches and chaperones along the Humboldt coast. The Coach originally requested HBRA’s help with their team retreat four years ago after he read “The Boys in the Boat” and recognized the role of teamwork in rowing. Members of the HBRA junior team took the lead in demonstrating the boats, developing proper form on land-based rowing machines, the basics of the rowing stroke, and how to work as a team to get a boat to move quickly.
